Meaning
The Director of ESGT speaks :

M. Claude Rousselot :

« We live in a chaotic world where money has become more important than man. Borders no longer exist for capital movements and yet understanding between men is still very limited. Unfortunately globalisation has generated nationalism and xenophobia. That is why it is most important and vital that relationships and links should be established between countries and peoples. As a consequence the meeting organised by our students within IGSO should enable the attending members from different countries to develop better understanding and respect of others. These days dedicated to work and reflexion should be the right time to approach landsurveying throughout yhe world. Therefore ESGT is looking forward to hosting this event in Le Mans.»
The former Director of ESGT speaks :

M. Michel Kasser :

« We are all aware that the profession of land surveyor is going global. This implies a thorough understanding of other people beyond historical borders. It also implies that we should respect local and national peculiarities, and establish links between people working in the same field. This mutual respect which in no case means cultural uniformity, is based on good knowledge of other people. This can undoubtedly be achieved thanks to IGSO. This is why ESGT is proud of hosting this meeting which will be the opportunity of getting to know and appreciate other people . »
A geodesy teacher's viewpoint :

M. Henri Duquenne :

« Basically geodesy has always tried to go beyond limits : beyond natural boundaries and national borders at first, by setting up continental and international networks of geodetic points ; then beyond interdisciplinary limits by getting more and more involved in the field of Earth Science, by diversifying viewpoints, and by participating in the knowledge of our planet. Sapce technologies have contributed to this trend. Yet technical progress is only a means of development, and man must control it. IGSM 2000 can fulfill this need.»
